The essence of this application is that people connect a special
router in garages and use the application to open the garage doors
when the car is at a certain distance from it.

The challenge

Improving the usability of an advanced IoT project

Tailwind was a ready-made product. The main goal of our
cooperation with Tailwind was to improve the product's
usability, simplify it and structure it.

The main challenge for our team was building the right
product architecture. Our partner's existing product was
built chaotically and many of its modules needed grouping.

The Target audience

The main persona of the Tailwind application is:
House owner
a person who uses applications to open the garage in his/her house.



Design System

For Tailwind, we developed a new design system based on the existing one. We simplified the components that already exist in the application for easier product navigation. Our main task was to improve the settings block in the application.

UI Design

The main goal for our team was to make the UI design of the application unobtrusive, pleasing to the eye and simple. It was important to add air to the design so as not to distract the user from the main actions in the application. We chose blue and light blue as the main colors for the products. These colors symbolize seriousness and reliability.

New user registration

In order for users to be able to use the application, they first need to register. They should use the application to scan the QR code on their router and connect to it by setting up the system itself.

Device details

In this section of the application, users should enter device details (number, location, number of doors, etc.) in order to connect it to the application.


This section is necessary for users to be able to see and manage all connected devices to the application. Using the functionality in this section, users can open or close garage doors. Also, users can invite other users and connect their devices to the application.


Our team made the main focus on this part of the platform. We made this part of the platform as convenient as possible for use. We added the following sections to this block: vehicle list, shared access, notifications, integrations, diagnostic tools, firmware update, app settings and automations. Using settings, users can customize the application to suit their requirements and needs.


As a result, our team upgraded the product completely, making it more
convenient, functional and simple. Thanks to the updated Tailwind product,
the process of connecting devices and the functionality of opening/closing
doors become faster and more understandable for the user.
